So.... you have Finally made the decision to invest in a vacation home, ( hopefully in Avalon or Stone Harbor NJ!)
A Vacation home at the Jersey shore is a great investment and very exciting for your entire family.
you should keep in mind when you’re thinking about investing in a second home.
What Is Your Comfortable Price Range? Get in touch with a reputable mortgage representative before you begin to look at properties.Give him your financial information , and find out exactly what you can realistically afford, and what you are qualified to buy.Remember you have to consider additional monthly costs in addition to your mortgage payment. Property taxes, homeowner's insurance, HOA fees, preventative maintenance, furniture and decorating.
Location is still the most important factor to consider in your purchase. Are you a beach person or a bay person?
Are you going to use the home for your family as a summer home? Or will you be renting your home at least part of the summer? Your Realtor will give you the rental history of the home.
Here at the New Jersey Shore, most of our homeowners are from Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and Delaware and have a 1.5 to 3 hour drive to their summer home in Avalon and Stone Harbor, and they spend most of the summer here.
Think about a property manager to handle maintenance. As an absentee owner, having someone looking after your investment while be a huge relief.
