Police: State of Emergency Remains in Effect
CAPE MAY COUNTY - Local law enforcement agencies stress the State of Emergency remains in effect. Non essential travel is prohibited.
Police department communication centers have been overwhelmed with the high volume of calls since the start of the storm. Middle Township reports over 9,000 since Friday, night.
Police departments do not have "inside" information on the status of power restoration. Police ask that you call Atlantic City Electric at 1-800-833-7476.
As of 11:30 on Sunday, Feb. 7 Atlantic City Electric spokesperson Sandra May said 49,590 residents are currently without power. "Crews are working around the clock to restore power". May said residents need to be prepared to be without power for several days.
Police advise if residence are without power they may travel to one of the county shelters or a friend or relatives house.
Anyone in need of evacuation to a shelter is asked to call police. Police advise to bring your own pillows and blankets.
